Connect product identity, quality and the next action.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central with selected specialist applications helps medical device teams coordinate stock, manufacturing and customer delivery, while retaining the information needed to investigate issues and manage the appropriate follow-up.

Your operating priorities

Bring the important
details together.

For medical device manufacturers and distributors coordinating components, batches, serial numbers, inspections and customer supply, with service and repair needs assessed where relevant to operations.

Complaint management

Product identity

Materials, components and finished devices need a consistent recorded identity so teams can follow their use, movement and customer delivery when questions arise.

Quality decisions

Inspection results must connect with the action people take next, including release, hold or investigation, with responsibilities and supporting evidence understood across the business.

Customer follow-up

A complaint or service request becomes easier to assess when the team can locate the relevant product, transaction and earlier action without rebuilding its history.

Industry capability focus

Designed around the
decisions you make.

Use the business platform and selected industry applications to connect the information, controls and actions your teams need.

01

Follow materials and devices through recorded transactions

Build on Business Central lot and serial tracking with specialist attributes, status rules and documented batch changes. Retain the relationship between materials, manufacturing and customer deliveries so teams can investigate the recorded path of a product. Agree the identity and transaction capture required at each stage, including where assemblies or repacking change the relationship.

02

Capture identifiers where the work happens

Use selected mobile workflows to capture receipts, transfers, production activity and picking. The industry solution supports UDI and serial-number collection, with guided scanning and packaging structures available through the relevant applications. Confirm identifier formats, devices, printers and transaction rules during design, so the physical label and ERP record support the same operational process.

03

Turn deviations into a documented response

Create incident records from relevant source documents, carrying item, batch or serial information into the investigation. Record complaints, internal findings and process deviations, assign actions and retain the resulting evidence. Specialist incident management can support corrective and preventive work, with the required review and closure process agreed around your quality procedures.

04

Coordinate service where it forms part of the business

For organisations that repair or service equipment, Business Central Premium provides service orders, service contracts, parts tracking, resource allocation and service invoicing. Assess these functions alongside device history and quality requirements. Agree which service activities belong in the ERP and which specialist technical records or field tools need to remain connected through separate systems.

How easily can your teams connect a customer issue with the original product and production records?
Before you begin

Questions worth working through.

Does UDI capture include regulatory registration and submission?

UDI collection in an operational workflow does not establish that a regulatory database connection or submission process is included. Define the identifiers, labels, destination systems and local requirements relevant to your devices. Confirm the required applications, interfaces and responsibilities as part of the agreed project scope.

Can the solution support service after delivery?

Business Central Premium includes service management for activities such as service orders, contracts, repair parts and invoicing. Suitability depends on your equipment and operating model. Assess inspection evidence, device-specific technical records and any specialist field-service integrations before deciding how after-sales work should be configured.

How are regulated controls and validation addressed?

Define the intended use, critical records and approval responsibilities with your quality team. Specialist controls can add electronic signatures and traceable changes, while project testing establishes their configured behaviour. Any validation, device certification or regulatory obligations must be addressed through the appropriate documented processes and responsible specialists.
